CFEO seminar at Detling draws a crowd
Caring for Ex-Offenders gave a seminar at the Detling conference last month and it was well attended by those with some interest, as well as the very experienced and some who felt that they could get involved but were not sure how.
We gave an overview of how Caring for Ex-Offenders works, why there is such a need and how churches can serve in this way.
We were particularly pleased to be at Detling since the South East region is one of high resettlement for those coming out of prison. We feel the churches could do great work here in helping reduce the reoffending rate by assisting those struggling to reintegrate into society. It was wonderful to see that God had given an interest in and passion for this ministry to so many people! Lots of probing questions were asked, concerns discussed and stories shared of mentoring and befriending already going on in some church communities. We are now looking to establish relationships with the churches represented there so that for the next ex-offender resettling in the South East we can have a strong team already in place and eager to meet them! The seminar is to be followed up by training in October which is open for anybody interested in Caring for Ex-Offenders.
It was a wonderul turnout and fantastic answer to prayer for the South East!
