Caring for Ex-Offenders on Newsnight
Last night Paul Cowley, Executive Director of Caring for Ex-Offenders, was interviewed on Newsnight as part of the discussions at the Conservative Party Conference on reducing reoffending.
Theresa May and Paul Cowley responded to questions by Jeremy Paxman and the Newsnight audience on what works in relation to prison and rehabilitation. He spoke a little about his personal story, described the issues facing those coming out of prison and how Caring for Ex-Offenders seeks to address some of these barriers to reintegration. He emphasised the importance of meeting the ex-offender at the prison gate.
Paul also praised the volunteers that mentor and support the ex-offenders in their church communities. He described the churches involved with Caring for Ex-Offenders as a valuable resource in reducing reoffending and cutting crime.
If you would like to hear more about what is happening with prisons in politics, other organisations' roles and Caring for Ex-Offenders, our Prison Ministry Conference is being held on 29th October.
